Hope Matters
Hey, Hope Buddies, I’m back with Hope Mini #2.
Before I begin, here’s a little background on me. As a child, I was known for being clumsy. If there was a wall or doorjamb, you could guarantee I was going to bump into it. An unexpected bump in the floor or sidewalk? I was going down. I had more bruises and scratches than I could remember where I got them. As an adult, I've gotten so much better about this. I try to be more aware of my surroundings, and I work out now.
Well, one morning recently, I was walking and tripped. But what I didn’t do was fall. The crazy thing is, the area was not unfamiliar to me. I’d walked this same sidewalk repeatedly and knew all the bumps and cracks. However, I tripped anyway, and my core saved me from falling on my face and hands in the street.
Over the years, while side-eyeing my trainer, I’ve worked to build up my core.
As a result of this, I’ve noticed some things. I sit and stand up straighter; I’m able to balance better, while doing everyday activities; and I’m less likely to bump into random fixtures.
This trip caused me to reflect on my journey through life with people and as a Christian. It got me thinking about the people I hold close as well as the faith I hold dear. A few questions came to mind, and I’ll pose them to you as well.
Who’s holding you up?
Who’s holding you together?
How has that impacted how you show up in the world?
See you tomorrow for Part 2. 😉
💜,
Parthenia
Coffee Matters
Coffee Buddies, let’s talk more about New Orleans, shall we? I discovered this place on another morning walk downtown, just like the one I mentioned yesterday. The thing is, I’d purchased this brand of beans in New Orleans a couple of years ago but didn’t know there was an actual coffee shop.
When I saw the little truck on the sign, my insides jumped, and I began planning my coffee adventure to French Truck Coffee. Now, when I got there, I did something I never do. I ordered a pour over. 😲 Hello, Coffee Adventure! 💃🏾
When I tell you it was the joy of my morning. I still smile when I think about it. You really can’t help but smile in a place like that. Hello? The bags are sunshine yellow, and the interior is an ENTIRE vibe. If you’re planning a trip to the city, add this place to your list. You could tell them I sent you, but they don’t know me. 😆 Just enjoy the coffee!
Who’s holding you up? How has that impacted how you show up in the world?
I appreciate you taking the time to read this hopeletter about my life and coffee. Please share with a friend who could use a little hope or coffee recommendation.
Love this. I'm thinking through these key questions you have posed:
-Who’s holding you up? (God, husband, family, community, nature)
-Who’s holding you together? (myself and God)
-How has that impacted how you show up in the world? (It has meant I can show up and shine bright - most days, lol)!
