Hope Matters
Hope Buddies, I’ve been thinking about this for a bit and wanted to share my thoughts about it with you. About this time last year, I was having a work conversation with a friend of mine, who happens to be a licensed therapist, and she asked me how I was doing. I mentioned to her that I was struggling with my work-life balance. Then, she hit me with, “There’s no such thing.” I was on the other end of the line thinking, ‘Excuse me. What?!’ She went on to clarify that we have been led to believe that there’s a balance to this thing called life. When in actuality it’s a flow. Talk about something that made me go, ‘Hmmm…’ and redirect my thinking!
There’s a well-known phrase, “moving at the speed of life.” Well, I’m about to pull a bit of my music knowledge into this (which is limited), so bear with me.
Music scores have flow, which is driven by the tempo of a piece. There are some scores where the tempo is consistent throughout. However, there are some where the composer decides to switch it up, and how often depends on the composer.
For reference, here are some of those terms and their meanings:

Hope Buddies, when I think about my life in terms of tempo and how The Great Composer is just switching it up at various times between any of these, I believe He’s conducting one of His magna opera. 🙄 and 😆
Here’s what I’ve learned over time. If I follow The Great Composer’s lead as I sing/play the score He wrote for my life, at least two things happen:
I don’t have to go back and sing/play the part where I decided to stop paying attention as He’s conducting.
Things go a lot more smoothly when I simply embrace the tempo He’s set for my day, week, month, year.
Trust The Composer. He wrote it!
Reflection
Hope Buddies, when you look over your life (past and present) and think about it in terms of tempo, what comes up for you?
Challenge
Notice what He’s directing you to do. Sometimes, life feels prestissimo and all out of control, but The Composer knows what He’s doing and why He wrote it that way. Embrace the prestissimo the same way you embrace the grave.
Hope in embracing your tempo. ☕️
Coffee Matters
Okay, so that was more than one question. Feel free to answer either or both. 😁

I appreciate you taking the time to read this hopeletter about my life and coffee. Please share with a friend who could use a little hope or coffee recommendation.
Love this analogy, Parthenia. Working on those slow speeds--not easy!
